Audition Form for "A Christmas Carol"

A Christmas carol

Summary

Charles Dickens is stuck for a new story.

His latest work didn’t succeed, and the bills are piling up. Catherine, his wife, is expecting their fifth child, but Charles’s mind is too occupied with the rapidly deteriorating working conditions for the poor to focus on being creative. Knowing the power of his pen, he is desperate to write a story that will make a difference for the working class.

Then, after an idea sparked by Catherine, Charles is struck with a “Dickens” of an idea.

A brand new character enters his mind, nearly fully formed. Throughout the night, he creates the carol for his wife, and they laugh and cry together as the story literally unfolds before them.

Featuring all the characters you’ve come to know and loathe (and love), this fresh take on a classic story is the perfect way to start your Christmas season. With eight original songs, plus a selection of Christmas carols, this play with music is guaranteed to warm your heart and have you crying along with Tiny Tim, “God bless us, every one!”
